Abandoned Nestlé Purina Factory Video – December 2011

Our last video of 2011 was from our visit to the Abandoned Nestlé Purina Factory. The Nestlé Purina factory in Barrhead, near Glasgow, made pet food – with a brief break to make baby food. The 200 employees were laid off in 2004, when Nestlé decided that the factory was uneconomic. Since being left abandoned several fires have taken place here destroying several areas of the factory, much of the factory has been stripped but several small details of what […]

Abandoned Balrossie School Video – January 2012

We actually had intended to go inside the Gray Dunn factory again to capture some of the fantastic views over the city but unfortunately on our return the place was sealed up tight with our previous entrance closed. Unfortunately with exploring it doesn’t always go to plan, so we left and looked at Balrossie School. The buildings from pictures we had seen from other pictures had wood boarding up and a few clear entrances, on arrival unfortunately all entrances had […]

Rosslynlee Hospital Video – October 2011

Some places like Rosslynlee Hospital, you spend ages walking around trying to find an entrance when it was under your nose the whole time. After looking at loads of different ways, we were in. There were some amazing items and details still there from when the hospital had closed. Rosslynlee Hospital was founded in 1874 under its original name of Midlothian and Peebles Asylum (1874 – 1948) then changed its name to Rosslynlee Mental Hospital (1948-60). Set in 64 acres […]

Roscigno Vecchia – Ghost Town – Guest Article

We have another guest article written by our friends over at Ghost Town from their visit to an amazing abandoned town Roscigno Vecchia in Italy. You can visit the Ghost Town website and like their facebook page if you want to see more. Many Italian ghost towns are in Southern Italy, where a hostile nature and a lacking territory maintenance often cause disastrous rockslides, landslides, floods and earthquakes. One of areas most affected is the Salerno province, where the beautiful […]

Cults Lime Works Video – September 2011

Gray Dunn & Co Biscuit Factory Video – January 2012

Travelling down the M8 Motorway it would be hard to miss the Gray Dunn & Co building, frequently we’ve drove past it always wondering what the interior holds. Unfortunately much of the inside was gutted but there were still several small details left relating to the previous occupants. Watch the video below to see our findings: Click to subscribe to Abandoned Scotland on YouTube The pictures from our trip can be seen here: http://www.abandonedscotland.com/blog/gray-dunn-co-january-2011/

Abandoned Hospital Bangour Exterior Video – October 2011

We actually visited the Abandoned Hospital in Bangour the same day as visiting Hartwood Hospital in our previous video but after seeing the actve security guards pass us in a car for the hundredth time we decided to leave and visit elsewhere. It was only after a few weeks that we decided to make it when people wanted to see what we captured from the trip (I was planning to leave it until we visited again…). Bangour Village Hospital was […]

Abandoned Hospital Hartwood Video – September 2011

After going to another location which wasn’t as successful we decided to visit the abandoned hospital in Hartwood. The remains of Hartwood Hospital, an 19th century psychiatric hospital with imposing twin clock towers, are the main feature of the village, even after its closure under the direction of the Lanarkshire Health Board in 1998. Like many other Victorian institutions in the area such as Gartloch Hospital, Stonyetts, Lennox Castle and Kirklands, the inception of the Community Care Act (1990) gave […]
