Glasgow Botanic Gardens Underground Station Video

We visited the underground station in the Botanic Gardens in Glasgow as one of our first explores, for most of us it was the first time we had been inside an abandoned railway tunnel. I think we all feel this was the best railway tunnel that we’ve been down in Scotland so far and it would take quite a bit to top it.

  1. Some 30+ years ago my friends and I discovered the disused Glasgow underground network. We managed to access a vast interconnected network, sometimes walking the old lines for 6 to 8 hours, finding ourselves in the North and East ends of the city and other places we weren’t sure of, being underground. It was always a fascinating, and sometimes dangerous experience, due to flooded areas and pits on the line. We didn’t have much in the way of lighting with us most of the time and generally walked until we reached an area open to the sky such as Botanic Gardens or Kelvingrove. I have some old photos somewhere if anybody is interested. I also remember some of the hidden accesses to the network!
