We’ve got some exciting news about an upcoming collaboration with BBC Scotland which will see some of our previous work reimagined along with new footage shot specifically for the series. The videos will feature some unreleased footage of some of our favourite explores in addition to a look into a few places rarely captured since their closure. The 10 week series will launch on Wednesday 10th May on ‘BBC Scotland‘ and their various social media platforms. Make sure to check […]

Taking Your First Steps

On a fairly mild day in February 2011 a group of friends ventured out to see for themselves a few unique locations in Scotland which were not quite your average tourist sites. Packed with basic camera equipment, wellies and what is now a long running private joke, the legendary green trousers they set off to find a few places which not too many people ever venture to. Places that have long been forgotten by society as a whole. Places that […]

Drawing The Line

Knowing when to draw the line is probably one of the most important aspects of exploring abandoned buildings you should consider in every place you find yourself. Is it really worth taking just one more photograph or video, even if you know it will be something that will amaze your fan base, if that means taking a massive unnecessary risk? Knowing whats ahead of you and that it won’t be around for much longer is a huge driving force to […]

Look out your boots or wellies. Find your hat and scarf. Zip up your waterproof jacket. Its time for a treasure hunt! We are fast approaching the 100,000 followers on Facebook and should hit the milestone before the weekend and so to mark this occasion we are having a treasure hunt which everyone can take part in! We have hidden four parcels in four of our favourite abandoned locations in Scotland and we want you to find them. For the […]

Have Computer Games Played A Part In Making Exploring Popular?

Computer games depending on where you read, have become more popular than other mainstream media such as movies and music. Gaming is now the past time of choice for many of an increasingly digital generation but how has this helped in making exploring more popular? Many of today’s popular games have destroyed environments and post apocalyptic themes where it’s common place to see digital recreations of decaying structures, games such as Gears of War, Call of Duty, Fallout, Battlefield etc… […]

Britain’s Hidden Heritage – Dalquharran Castle

The BBC programme Britain’s Hidden Heritage featured Dalquharran Castle recently with some very interesting background information. It also had footage from the 70s when some of the flooring was still in place. It’s sister castle Culzean Castle stands proudly to this day with much of the interior remaining as it was when originally designed by Robert Adam, whereas Dalquharran Castle is a ruined shell of what it used to be. It’s a shame and shocking that the land owner was […]

Abandoned ICI Nobel Explosives Works Ardeer Video

We’ve made a couple of trips to ICI Nobel, part of the site is still live with other companies working there and some of it is covered by The Manufacture and Storage of Explosives Regulations (MSER) of 2005 which would mean it is a criminal offence to enter. So with this in mind you have to tread carefully here. Nobel Industries Limited was founded in 1870 by Swedish chemist and industrialist Alfred Nobel for the production of the new explosive […]

AR Drone 2.0 – A New Perspective for Abandoned Scotland

We recently got a package from the kind folk over at Parrot containing an AR Drone 2.0. I’ve always thought it would be great to capture aerial views over abandoned places but the technology was always lacking with it quickly becoming very expensive and run into thousands of pounds to get a capable drone and also an HD camera that could be attached to it. I then came across the AR Drone 2.0 and it looked like it had everything […]

Do you believe in Ghosts?

Do you believe in Ghosts? It’s a question that is raised to us on YouTube relatively frequently, I suppose because we visit abandoned places it would be logical to some people to automatically assume that we must be into paranormal investigation and ghost hunting. The short answer to the question would be no I don’t believe in ghosts and I’ll try and explain why. We’ve visited several different places, some of them would be considered spooky and some people would […]
